Fashion, Design, and Art as Tools for Building a Just World
SDG 17
November 20, 15:00-19:00
Hall №1
Session
The SCO+ association possesses a unique feature of incorporating into a single space countries that are located both close to and quite far from each other in a geopolitical sense. Therefore, the foundation of the SCO+ partnership lies, first and foremost, in cultural interaction and an understanding of each other’s cultural meanings and values.
Fashion, design, art preserve and convey these meanings in forms accessible to people who speak different languages and have different levels of education. Interaction in these fields and the ability to read and unlock the cultural code of a nation contribute to the awareness of the importance of cooperation and the understanding that sustainable development and justice on a global scale can only be achieved through the careful preservation of traditions, and respect for one’s own culture and that of others, in all its manifestations, from everyday life to the embodiment of the aesthetic ideal.
The goal of the session is to conceptually define the role of the creative industries in achieving global sustainable development and building a just world order by decoding national cultural codes, preserving traditions and fostering mutual respect for the identities of the SCO+ countries.
